Built initially by RIchard Pace, President George Washington visited during his tour of the south in 1791. The housewas owned by several prominent planters in the antebellum period. Benjamin W. Bettis purchasedthe home in 1858. It burned in 1866 and was rebuilt in 1868 - as it stands today. The stunning Greek Revival home has been in one of two families for more than a centuryand a half.
