Northeast Columbia is one of Columbia’s largest suburban areas. Situated northeast of downtown Columbia Northeast Columbia, a sprawling suburban expanse northeast of downtown Columbia, spans Richland and Kershaw counties, offering diverse living options from established neighborhoods to new constructions. This area caters to various budgets, featuring amenities like golf courses and swim and tennis clubs, popular among residents. Northeast Columbia boasts a wide range of neighborhoods, extending into Kershaw County, and provides easy access to Interstates 77 and 20. Kershaw County’s most populous town, Camden, was established in 1732 and is South Carolina’s oldest inland city. Less than an hour from Columbia, Camden blends history with modern living, offering unique shopping, diverse dining, and a quaint, equestrian-influenced lifestyle. Each spring, Camden hosts the Carolina Cup, a steeplechase that serves as one of the most popular events in the state. Also in Northeast Columbia is Blythewood, a traditionally rural area experiencing rapid residential and commercial growth. Just a 30-minute drive from downtown, Blythewood maintains its serene atmosphere, with minimal traffic.
